Few systems are more efficient at managing internal data than Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). But when it comes to business commerce transactions between you and your trading partners, ERP falls short. It’s just not equipped to manage external information and relationships.

Fortunately, there’s a way to fill this gap. According to the latest CIO Market Pulse survey, "Cloud-Based Business Commerce Solutions," an increasing number of companies running ERP are turning to open platforms where information can be accessed and shared, easily and safely.

In essence, cloud-based solutions help these companies extend their ERP beyond their four walls. Now they’re driving greater collaboration, transparency, and efficiency.

This strategy is catching on. Fifty-two percent of survey respondents are open to or aggressively pursuing cloud-based applications that can enhance their current ERP investments. Half the survey respondents were based in the United States, while the other half were located in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
