The Ariba Managed Procurement Services offerings are implemented according to a spend management plan customized for the particular needs of each client. Spend management plans utilize a hybrid approach that involves classifying client spend into Strategic, Core and Tactical segments across dozens of spend categories. Once spend categories are properly sorted into these three segments, Ariba determines the right solution offering for each segment. The segments are defined based on their impact on client's competitive differentiation, desired control, and existing internal expertise.
Our hybrid approach to managing Strategic, Core, and Tactical segments offers far greater flexibility than traditional all-or-nothing outsourcing:
- Strategic Segment. Spend categories are fully managed internally by the client, often using technology, consulting services and category expert assistance from Ariba.
- Core Segment. Spend categories may be partially managed both by Ariba and the client.
- Ariba might manage analysis and sourcing processes by deploying the Analyze-to-Contract Program, while the client manages its own procure-to-pay processes (often using Ariba technology and consulting services).
- Ariba might manage procurement and reconciliation processes by deploying our Procure-to-Pay Program, while the client manages analysis and sourcing processes (often using Ariba technology, category expert assistance and consulting services).
- Tactical Segment. Through our Analyze-to-Contract Program, Procure-to-Pay Program and/or Analyze-to-Pay Program, spend categories can be partially or fully managed by Ariba across the entire spectrum of analysis, sourcing, procurement and reconciliation processes.
