New Features in Ariba 9r2 Release

Feature Name

Feature Descriptions

Ariba Analysis

Ariba Sourcing

Ariba Contract

Ariba Buyer

Auto Received PO Cancellation

Users will be able to create negative receipts for auto-received purchase order lines and convert them to manually received lines. Subsequently, users can choose to either change or cancel such purchase orders or manually receive them in future.

X

PO Close Enhancements

An additional option, Order Adjusted and Closed for Receiving, has been added to the purchase order close dropdown menu. Users will be able to adjust orders when the amount or quantity received is less or equal to the requisition associated with the order. Users will also be able to reduce the order quantity and amount easily without any further transactions on the purchase order.

X

Enhanced Invoice Rejection Handling

Invoice status is updated to "Rejected" from "Reconciled," and comments will now be required when rejecting an invoice or IR. This comment is sent to the sellers to aid them in knowing the exact reason of rejection.

X

Multi Ship-To Automation

Automates the multiple ship-to process, drastically reducing the amount of time to ship items to multiple locations from a single configuration and also allows the split of a single line item/kit to multiple ship-to locations. It will also allow creation of shipping templates, which define pre-configured shipping splits.

X

Electronic Order Execution

The Electronic Order Execution (EOE) feature has been introduced to capture orders created outside of Ariba Buyer and send them to the Ariba Network (AN) electronically, thus allowing customers to capture all of their spend within Ariba Buyer. Item Master facilitates this by providing limited material management capabilities with regards to part number/source list matching to catalogs (with the catalogs provided either electronically via the AN or uploaded manually).

X

Queue Management

Eases the way the documents approvals are handled within a large group of users with high transactions. With this, the customers can create approvable queues, and acquire or return items to or from the queue so that there is clear visibility into who owns an item at any point of time.

X

Conditional Content

Allows the buyer to define content (questions, requirements, attachments, and sections) within sourcing events, surveys, and seller profile questionnaires to be hidden until responses to other related questions meet a certain condition.  The condition could be simple, based upon only one other content question, or complex, based upon responses to multiple questions.

X

Mass Edit Workspaces

Enables the editing of multiple workspaces or projects at once. Users can add, replace, or delete values from existing project fields (including custom fields) and modify the existing users or project groups. Mass edit can be done on contract workspaces, sourcing projects, personal workspaces, knowledge projects, and seller profile questionnaires. Changes made during mass edit are captured in an Excel report for each updated workspace or project.

X

X

Seller Organization Hierarchy

This feature introduces the ability to create hierarchical parent/child (company/subsidiary company) relationships between organizations, including the following components:

  • Parent/child relationships in the organization profile
  • Parent/child relationships in organization searches
  • Aggregated roll-up of data under parent companies in analytical reports

X

X

X

Workspace Audit Trail

Provides a comprehensive, centralized audit logging functionality.  Moreover, the contents of Audit Trail will be exportable. This feature will be easy to use and will enable full auditing capability and provide for better SOX compliance.

X

X

Data Archiving and Purging

This functionality in Ariba Buyer has been extended to Upstream Platform solutions, given an administration user interface, and modified to address performance concerns. This feature provides organizations with the ability to extract data into an archive file and permanently delete data from their Ariba databases across the Ariba Spend Management suite.

X

X

X

Universal Logout Support

Ariba Buyer 9r2 will enhance security by introducing a universal logout feature, allowing users to simultaneously close sessions in both On-Premise Ariba Buyer and On-Demand Strategic Sourcing/Contract Management.

X

X

X

IPv6 Compatibility

Ariba Spend Management 9r2 solutions come with native support for the IPv6 standard. As a result, they can be used in networks that use this new standard.

X

X

X

X

Selenium Compatibility

Ariba applications will allow the use of Selenium for testing automation, providing the necessary “hooks” to drive the application in an automated fashion.

Features to be included in one of the first few service packs of 9r2 (so as to coincide with the appropriate On-Demand Release) include:

Enhanced APC Integration

The integration between Ariba Buyer and Ariba Procurement Content (APC) has been enhanced to make it easy for customers to migrate their catalog functionality to APC. The enhanced integration improves the user experience for both end-users and administrators.

X

Mobile API for Downstream Approvables

The new Mobile API for Downstream Approvables will be flexible enough to support other implementations like a buyer portal, or for use within the SAP Universal Approval Application. These APIs will provide extensibility of the On-Premise platform, allowing customers to continue to leverage the functionality with additional development. This will also reduce the reliance upon enterprise email for notifications and approval functionality.
