Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain: Achieving the Perfect Order

New Features and Enhancements Preview

Ariba is expanding its space into supply chain visibility with the launch of Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain 2.0, which is currently planned for August 2015* deployment.

In support of SAP’s “Run Simple” promise for making business commerce easier and more transparent, Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain focuses on extending innovations and capabilities for trading partners to address their needs for supply chain visibility for direct materials manufacturing and retail merchandise vendors. In August 2014, Ariba launched its first version of Collaborative Supply Chain, setting a foundation for addressing direct materials spend. Extending this foundation in its latest release, Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain 2.0 will lay the groundwork to extend industry collaboration scenarios and address feedback provided by key design partners.

Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain 2.0 includes enhancements in the following areas:

  • Contract manufacturing
  • Consignment collaboration
  • Usability improvements

Ship Notice Due List

Sellers can create ship notices based on due lists and also for multiple purchase orders.

Direct Material Fields for Order and Invoice Collaboration

Usability improvements to further support direct material processing, with fields now visible and editable in the Seller User Interface in Ariba Network. The new fields appear in purchase orders, ship notices, invoices, and goods receipt notifications

Ship Notice Business Rules

The Ship Notice Business Rules feature expands the Ariba Network Order Confirmation and Ship Notice rules to better support the direct material collaboration process. A rule may be implemented based on customer and market requirements, or may be driven by individual needs. A rule can be applied to many sellers or to a predefined group of sellers (even if the group only contains one member).

Scheduling Agreement Releases

Buyers can now collaborate with sellers using the Ariba Network user interface to collaborate on scheduling agreement releases. Buyers can periodically communicate releases to their sellers and these sellers can create ship notices for materials requested by the scheduling agreement releases.

SAP Supply Network Collaboration Integration

The integration feature to SAP Supply Network Collaboration enhances the Ariba Network with specialized and complex supply chain management business functions, offering a 360-degree view of the supply chain.

Planned New Features of Ariba Collaborative Supply Chain 2.0

Items to Confirm List

This feature displays an actionable work list of purchase order line items due to be confirmed. The list enables the seller to view and quickly confirm many purchase order line items simultaneously, including confirming across multiple purchase orders.

Schedule Line Improvements

This feature is an enhancement to the existing schedule line feature to include the schedule line number in all places where the schedule line information is shown, and the seller user can now use the purchase order schedule lines as a basis for doing confirmations.

Invoice Enhancements for Self Billing and Scheduling Agreement Releases

This feature enables the self-billing invoice collaboration process for both purchase orders and scheduling agreements. It also allows for supplier-created invoices against Scheduling Agreement Releases.

Contract Manufacturing Collaboration

This feature enables the contract manufacturing process flow by supporting subcontracting purchase orders with components, buyer shipment of components, visibility of component inventory, and supplier receipt and consumption of components.

Consignment Collaboration

This feature enables buyers to send consignment purchase orders to suppliers. Also, it enables buyers to replenish and receive consignment goods that are still owned by the supplier. The feature provides a view of material movements, change of ownership of inventory, and settlement of inventory for payment to the supplier.

Collaborative Supply Chain Usability Improvements

CSC2.0 provisions enhanced usability improvements to Scheduling Agreements, Order Collaboration, and Ship Notices.

Collaborative Supply Chain Flags at Relationship Level

This feature allows buyer administrators to enable suppliers for Collaborative Supply Chain (CSC) functionality, and they can do so without automatically configuring them for industry-specific functionality. Enabling suppliers for industry-specific functionality is an extra optional step that can be taken after a suppler has been configured for CSC functionality.
