Elanco Animal Health Incorporated

How creation of a modern procurement and accounts payable platform for suppliers and employees helps improve the lives of animals

Elanco Animal Health Incorporated recently acquired Bayer Animal Health allowing them to provide pharmaceutical products that improve the health of farm animals and pets. Operating under the Elanco name, they will use one unified procurement and accounts payable systems. While preparing for the merger, Bayer upgraded its previously highly customized processes to align with the platform Elanco had been using. This also included a cleanup of their master vendor data.

With the help of partner Tata Consultancy Services, this large acquisition resulted in the preparation of Bayer’s procurement and accounts payable processes for an integration with Elanco’s on a future platform using SAP S/4HANA. The combined entity plans to use a unified, integrated set of SAP Ariba solutions to create efficiencies in vendor payment cycles and generate greater control over indirect spend.

The goal is for the newly formed company to use Ariba Network as a strategic solution for its vendors and employees leading to a 98% improvement in invoice matching and posting combined with an 80% reduction in invoice processing time.
